Amazing pictures! Looks like they repurposed landing pads to sports arenas! So sad! 🤔

The immense size and beautiful styles and shapes! Trucks, airplanes, and helicopters look like specks in comparison. The classy accommodations and grand capacity. I have heard that thousands of people were accommodated, and I even heard up to 16, 000 people! Like a cruise ship. I've heard there were horticulture facilities and that things would grow well up there. Thank you for this beautiful collection!! Thank you so much.

Amazing, adore airships and dirigibles.
There's a building in London called the Lighthouse, it stands not far from Kings Cross train station and there doesn't appear to be any real history about why or even when this was first built but apparently it has been on the site since the early 1800s and one of the theories is that a retired seaman had it built in order to sell his oysters, if you can believe it?
Anyway, the fact that it is so near a major transport hub and nowhere near the sea or even the river Thames, assisting ships in the night or bad weather, would seem to point to another purpose and so similar to the pictures seen at 3:17, 5:03 and 6:14, that I believe, and have believed for some time now, that it was a dirigible/airship station.
As an aside there is a wonderful old film on the BFI Player (British Film Institute) which isn't available outside the UK, sadly, a comedic sketch film from 1909 showing 2 men, one dressed as a Farmer, the other dressed as his wife, on a day out at the White City Fair, part of what was allegedly built for the Franco-British Exhibition and the London Olympic games of 1908.
As Farmer Jenkins and his "wife" get on one of the rides, assisted by able seamen, there can be seen an huge advertising hoarding in the background with the words, "Airship Dreuzy".
I looked up Dreuzy and could find no dirigible/airship link to the name, perhaps lost in the mists of time, for the place, in France, is about 16miles from the nearest train station, literally in the middle of nowhere, but there may have been connecting carriages, we can't know.
I have always loved dirigibles/airships and there are a number of appreciation societies dedicated to them on the internet, not only that I was fortunate enough to visit the Forbes Mansion Museum at Balleroy-Sur-Drome in Normandy, home to a large Hot Air Balloon collection, Forbes (of the magazine fame) was crazy about hot air balloons and the like, but sadly I was not as aware as I am today when I visited all those years ago.
As an aside and returning to Farmer Jenkins and his "wife", as I say they are attending the White City fair and one of the other rides they get on is a rollercoaster, but what is fascinating is that this rollercoaster appears to be constructed on and through a HUGE pile of MUD, and I believe that this could have been what they dug the White City buildings out from, using all the seamen, who would later work on the fair rides after whitewashing the buildings, hence the name, White City!

This film was awesome! I had to watch it twice..it was that good. Loved the Tartarian Architecture in a few of the scenes. Or some appeared to look Tartarian.
Thank u & God bless 💞🕊💞

Wow, Bill! I guess I didn't know that much about the air ships! On the diagram of one it says "Atomic Power Plant"?? ....and there's passenger cabins, a bar and nightclub, on another helicopter and airplane landing pads! I'm rather impressed! LOL! I had no idea they were so elaborate. And the Navy seems to have had many. ? Thanks again for posting this!

2:22 Atomic power plant, and Retractable Pontoons for water landings!? Helicopter deck and Hanger!? Did we even have helicopters at that time!?...I had NO idea! Wow! Haha ... A Promenade Deck, and a Self Service Elevator? to the Night Club and Bar! An Exhibition Hall that can be lowered to the ground and Detached??? I imagined these airships to be much more sparse and utilitarian with passengers and crew limited to one big compartment located underneath the belly of the ship! Wait! There's more? 2:31 A Pilot House and a literal Train of wheeled cargo cars on tracks breaching the exterior of the blimp!? A sophisticated, futuristic ground boarding station exceeding some of the transportation stations today!??? Wait! At 4:54 ! Is this a Russian? design with the topside Heliport and an airplane in lower deck compartment almost the length of an ocean liner!? A road ramp bridge for trucks and cars? A topside landing strip? At 5:52 ... Small Wright brothers type single engine prop planes hanging below the blimp...what?! How did these airships get off the ground!? American, US Navy, German Nazi and Russian, in horse and buggy days? I realize some of these designs may not have been built, but I'm mind blown Bill Miller, 🤯you've outdone yourself! Thanks for making this in 1080p, and the music was perfect as well. Bill Miller Films are fine art! 💯💥

Doesn't seem real. Why they ever got rid of these, and the trams and the trains....
