The process is not just a 9-5. Buck it up, write 30 pages, go home.


He doesn't do that. It's mostly that writing is about thinking. Spending time figuring out intention and obstacle.


He doesn't write outlines, he does index cards. He has the end and writes backwards sometimes.


The dialogue. Start with intention and obstacle. Once you know, thoroughly what the scene is about, everyone's goals, the subtext, he just writes it and it comes as quickly as it would to copy it


It takes practice. No one is born a gifted writer, or artist. Everything can be learned and everyone is creative.
