I was "re-sawing" some Spanish Cedar to line a cigar humidor. The wood was dry to the touch, just purchased from an indoor lumber yard, but it tripped the brake. The Sawstop technician had never heard of a problem with Spanish Cedar but thinks it may have been a conductive resin in the wood rather than water. The saw did give me a warning first. It came to a stop mid-cut and gave me a rapidly blinking red light. I simply reset the switch but didn't put it in bypass mode. The saw is fairly new to me so I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve. Anyway, Sawstop said they'll send me a new cartridge.
Lesson learned.

Just activated my Sawstop cartridge. Touched the blade with a piece of aluminum while blade was running. Man that was fast!!

Ugh, just tripped my saw. Was setting up a new Miter sled, thought I had the extruded aluminum fence spaced far enough away form the saw blade. Went to cut my first piece of wood on the brand-new crosscut blade and BAM. Had to have just barely grazed the fence enough to set off the brake.

I sent a comment on another video. Perhaps you did not see it. I was using a jig with metal bolts/nuts ( wedgie sled ) and one of the nuts cam off and the bolt hit the blade on my Saw HAPPENED....Should I be concerned that it did not activate the brake? Is there some way to check to see if it is operational without blowing a $70 cartridge ?

This saw constantly triggers the "blade stop" at school no matter what we do when we try cutting wood. What could be wrong? We constantly bypass the saw stop safety mechanism to use the saw. This defeats the purpose of your saw.
