The Opry honors The McCrary Sisters and their impact on country music during Black History Month.
Nashville Country Music Reporter Marcus Dowling is joined by Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor and Jerry Pentecost to talk about The McCrary Sisters’ impact and influence across not only country music, but across multiple genres of music. Regina and Alfreda McCrary share about singing with their sisters, being on stage together, and the love and inspiration of their late sister, Deborah.
Daughters of the late Rev. Samuel McCrary, the McCrary Sisters grew up in Nashville surrounded by artists, community, faith, and of course, music. They officially formed their own group, The McCrary Sisters in 2011, singing gospel that combines traditional and contemporary music while infusing their influences of classic soul, blues rock, R&B and Americana music.
The sisters have performed with notable artists Delbert McClinton, Black Keys, Martina McBride, Eric Church, Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, Jonny Lang, Robert Randolph, The Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Rosanne Cash, Carrie Underwood, Hank Williams Jr., Dr. John, Widespread Panic, Sheryl Crow, Maren Morris, Gregg Allman and many more.
This video was created in loving memory of Deborah McCrary.
