Presented by Woods Hole Research Center (WHRC)'s Rachael Treharne, Tatiana Shestakova and Sue Natali. Introductory remarks by Heather Goldstone, WHRC's Chief Communications Officer.

The Arctic is warming faster than almost anywhere else on Earth and often the changes with the biggest impact are not linear – they are abrupt, acute shifts; extreme events. WHRC scientists Rachael Treharne, Tatiana Shestakova, and Sue Natali will share their experiences of tracking and studying extreme events in a rapidly changing Arctic.

I was honestly surprised to hear that around 12% of your participants were from the 19-30 (I think?) age range. That's fantastic! It may seem small to some, but I believe it to be significant. I myself am 34, and I do hope to see more people from my age group learning about and getting involved with these issues.

I'm catching this a few months after the fact on YouTube. Your "crater" photo I'm familiar with as I had a couple friends working in the petro-chem business on the Yamal peninsula where most of these have been reported. Disturbing trends.

In the Ice core samples is it true that the earth cycles roughly every 40, 000 years.where it has warming&cooling trends?

Why don't we talk about the melting Arctic releasing methane that dooms us much faster than expected?

13:00 It's sometimes all right to use a graph without real data just to illustrate a point, but at least the curve should not bend backward!

Climate warming is coming at us so fast and presenting us with so many unpredictable unknowns that tipping points are being past that are irreversible concerning the earth's sustainable climate and habitat.

I've watched many of these programs, and as important as the issues are, could you manage to get better audio quality with less noise? We're talking about the possible end of the world as we know it ... we should at least have some decent audio as we slowly descend to hell! Thank you.

One might consider the meaning behind George Carlin’s statement, “I’m just here for the entertainment”.
