I was hoping the story with Altera and Sam would have been more interesting, but the end of the game makes me excited for a sequel if they plan to use that

At the end of subnautica you can see the Arctic area when you are in the rocket flying around in the atmosphere, so there was actually a decent amount of land on the planet.

as for your lament about remember a spot on the map where you had been without a beacon is easy if you have a compass. just triangulate your position from the starter pod. distance + direction + depth = the 3 d's in 3d space.

Said by the devs this game isn't really supposed to be a true sequel more of a 1.5 but it was said in one of the trailers so it's understandable

It seems this game is definitely not as frightening as the last one, but it also seems to be way more fun and full of content. Subnautica was not intended to be a horror game in general, it isnt even in the horror game genre, this game is much brighter less scarier and enjoyable for some people, but for other it might not be as fun as the horror aspects are more or less gone, not to say you won't feel scared nor alone. I'd say give this game a try, it might be scarier or funnier than you think it will.

Hmm so 4546B has relatively few large marine predators in the temperate zone, but they are apparently in more abundance in the polar region 🤔

I don't think I ever ran out of food or water and I wasn't even really making it all that often. There's drops from crates and plants everywhere that provide all your survival needs. Also the temperature mechanic is useless if you wait to explore land with a prawn suit like I did.

I started playing this game last night. After an hour, it feels incredibly grindy compared to the last game. I'm spending all my time looking for the resources to build a half-dozen things that aren't going to help me explore or dive deeper. There's no radio in the pod, so I have no clue where to go or what to do next. I've already been to the (so-called) supply cache.

The map thing would make sense, I feel. Or we should at least be able to pull up the map you find, and place markers on it manually or something. I got used to using beacons and getting it in my head what direction lead to what, but in reality a map is what someone would use, right?

My final take on the game is pretty simple. It is not as good as it's most enthusiastic supporters make it out to be. And it is not as bad as it's worst detractors say it is. At the end of the day my opinion is that it is a good game well worth the price i paid for early access. My only criticism is that the end was a bit anti-climactic. Wish it would have been a little more fleshed out if you know what i mean. Could not give it a 8 but might go as high as 7.

How did you feel about the story progression. Since it is open world, I got story cues earlier than I should've so it was difficult to piece the mystery together. I'm at the end and I still confused as to what happened.

This review is on point. It's great, but not quite as amazing as the original. And the land portion is really pretty lame compared to the underwater stuff.
