Visual Studio is an integrated development environment (IDE) for .NET developers, whereas Visual Studio Code is a lightweight code editor with support for multiple languages.

Visual Studio is an offshoot of Microsoft's flagship IDE, Visual Studio 6.0. It was created to allow developers to develop applications using Microsoft technologies (namely C#). It has since been expanded to include support for other languages and frameworks.

Visual Studio Code is a text editor that supports multiple programming languages, including JavaScript and TypeScript. Developers can use it to write new code or edit existing files in their projects
