As soon as he refused to read to his daughter... his immediate defensive stance and tone of voice told us all we needed to know.

The abusive father seems SO in denial. You can see it in his face he's terrified he's about to be outed. Guilt written on his face in bright garish red lettering.

It’s so sad to see that mother cry and hug her daughter once she fully grasps what he did to her

It always baffles me how can a parent touch and do things to their own child. Someone they watched grow up, someone who trusted them whole

The way they tricked the audience into thinking that the dad was the rational parent and the mom was the crazy parent.

That cut right to the heart both as a doctor and as a survivor.

This is so disturbing. Lord help these babies that go through these terrible traumas.

"I always suspected you" can be an extra punch to a trauma survivor. So you were suspicious yet you did literally nothing at all besides let it go on. There are a lot of things you CAN do actually, even without clear evidence.

I was 3 when my female cousin stole my innocence. She was a child herself, but she held it over my head and threatened to tell our family if I ever said anything. I always thought I would be the one to get in trouble, because that's what she would tell me, "Do you really want me to tell your mom you're not a virgin? Just shut up and do what I say." I was under her control for 10 years until my family moved to a different state. I was 17 when I actually told my mother what she did. Turns out my cousin's mother, my mother's sister, had done the same thing to her when they were children...I thankfully don't ever have to see them ever again.

Dr. Charles is hands down my most favorite character on Chicago Med. Cool, calm, experienced and rational. He kicks ass

As someone with DID, when they started talking about personality fragments, I knew. I knew something had happened to her, something no child should have to go through.

I can’t help but love the irony that the father was outed because he chose to bring the girl to the hospital. Undone by perhaps one of his only acts of kindness. Talk about irony.

You can tell a lot by his reaction. She was immediately concerned for her daughter. He was immediately concerned for himself.

“He’s not the one you wanna be yelling at!” Yes he is he touched a child!

I noticed in the first seconds of the clip, during the tantrum in the car, the girl was holding her hands behind her back as if there were tied. The tied hands triggered her again when she woke up from the sedation in the hospital. Small details, absolutely heartbreaking.

Thank God Dr. Charles is very well read. I picked up on the Jabberwocky passage immediately because I loved that poem as a kid. It’s amazing to think what could’ve happened to this woman if Dr. Charles wasn’t there to hear that, or if he didn’t know the poem to begin with. Shows why it’s so important to be knowledgeable about a lot of things not necessarily related to what you’re doing

This cut so deep as a survivor and someone with complex PTSD. I know what it’s like to be psychologically destroyed like this girl

That’s how I wish my mother hugged me when she found out what happened to me

Im pretty shocked and sad to see that almost all comments here describe experiences that relate to this scene in the drama. This is the first time I came across something like this and seeing that it is a common thing in the society just makes me feel sad about the kind of people in this world. So sick and im sorry about all of the victims. I have no idea how painful it is and how hard survival and spending a normal life is for all such victims. Hope we could raise more awareness about this among responsible elders and children themselves, so that they can complain to someone regarding it and could bring the criminal to light. I think it is a very important matter because 1, it destroys one's life and 2. They may tend to do the same to another person and might spread the behaviour. The world is so sick and I hope every one can do at least a little thing to help prevent such things.
