You forgot about Nicki Minaj losing best new artist to Bon Iver. Another huge snub as Nicki went on to be a global superstar and one of the most successful rappers of all time and Bon Iver was just another winner that went under the radar. The Grammys have Insane choices for best new artists.

I’ll never forget the look on Mariah’s face through the Grammy’s in 96. Stark contrast to how she looked at the 96 AMA’s. She was beaming! I remember reading a small article about the tension between Mariah and Tommy, during the after party. This was in Blackbeat or Right On! MAN…the days before the internet. Now we get countless video essays on the past! 😂

Edit: I also remember reading that Mariah was too popular to win the Grammy’s back in 96. It was the height of her career and they used her for ratings.
