What's Missing Here?

The Ducati Streetfighter V4S is a beautiful motorcycle with many advanced electronic features. But, it's missing something really simple that many cheaper motorcycles have. A fuel gauge.

It took some getting used to, but now I use the trip computer to see how much fuel I have remaining. Does your bike have a fuel gauge?

My first bike was a 1974 Honda CB350. Purchased new in 1974. It also did not have a fuel gauge. On the left side was a valve - turn the valve down to release fuel into the carburetors. If you started running out of fuel, turn the valve to the 3 o'clock position to allow an extra 1/2 gallon or so to flow from the auxiliary tank. Cheap but effective. I appreciate the fuel gauge on my current bike.

I had an 848 when they first came out with the Street Fighter. One of the best bikes I've ever had.

I feel like a lot of bikes don’t have a fuel gauge, mine just blinks at me when i reach about a quarter tank

To be fair I'm used to keep track of the remaining fuel with the odometer. Knowing how many miles you can do with a full tank, just top it off and set the partial odometer to zero. Way more precise and you get a clearer idea of how many miles you can do with what you have.

It has a fuel light when you’re down to 4 liters. It also doesn’t have cruise control.

I’ve got a monster and it has no gauge, but as long as your riding within like 40 MILES of a gas station went the light comes in you should be fine, also checking by yourself looking and sloshing is easy too, but yes, should have ine

I have this bike. The lack of fuel gauge is a non issue. But wouldn’t be mad if Ducati gave me one on a bike that cost 30k. My big letdown is lack of cruise control on a bike called a STREETfighter.

Tripmeter saves the day. I have two trip meters and reset one of them every time i filll up just for easy calculation. 😅

My desert X actually doesn’t have a full gauge but has a number of KM remaining which I find somewhat reliable since it goes up and down constantly depending upon how you are riding the bike. I can ride very soft and it would show me 50km left and the gun it on highway and now switches to 15km left.

Doesn't have all the bells and whistles which is why I bought the m1000r comp. Great bike but I just can't with Ducatis choices.

It does have a low fuel light...and a "how many miles can you drive with the fuel you have left" which is really all you need

I wish that they came with outside temperature gauges, so I see freezing road temperature, or 120°f and hydrate more often.

I think a lot of dual sports are like that. My XR 650 Don't have one. I pretty much refill when my trip meter hits 90 miles

My 2011 monster doesn't have a fuel gauge. But my 2013 kawasaki versys does.

It also doesn’t have cruise control. If they add that and the fuel gauge this bike is perfect
