I don't talk about my time with the Civil Air Patrol much because there has been no need to. That said, I have been thinking about it a lot lately because I do miss it sometimes. Because of that, I decided to check out some other cadets' videos about CAP and hopefully clear up any myths or misconceptions I encounter along the way.

I was in CAP for about 7 and a half years based in Florida until I recently moved on to college where I am currently doing Army ROTC. I did do Senior Member for a little bit but Im letting it expire and don't plan on renewing it any time soon. The time I spent in CAP have been very memorable. In the program, you learn how to be an effective leader, how to be responsible for yourself and your team, and make friendships that literally last forever. I wasn't much for ranking up in CAP, I only made it up to Technical Sergeant, but I was heavily involved in things like Cadet Staff and Color Guard for most of the time I was at CAP. Outside of CAP, you normally don't talk to people about it because there are just certain terminology and things that only CAP members would understand, but when you meet someone who is also from CAP, it is like a great white buffalo and you immediately just get connections. I highly recommend this program to anyone from the ages 12-18. If you want to experience a military-like environment with not that much commitment, because like the guy said in the video, you can just attend meetings once every week or you can promote, be part of cadet staff, cyberpatriot, aviation, emergency services, color guard, drill team, UCC, NCSAs, etc. and really get a humbling experience and make lasting friends. Because once you are out, you will miss every second of it.

I’ve been in CAP for almost 4 years, and I am so incredibly thankful for the program! I have grown so much because of it, I have had so many amazing experiences, forged lifelong friendships, and made so many incredible memories I will never forget!

You talk exactly like every flight Sergeant and drill instructor I have had in CAP.

I've been in CAP for 16 years. Started as a cadet and now a senior member flying missions and orientation flights every month. It's a fantastic program that shouldn't be the secret it is

You are aloud to carry a folding knife in uniform. The only problem, is it has to be a utility knife, such as multitools, Swiss Army knifes, ect.

I was in the Civil Air Patrol back in High School, but I moved on from it, to focus on College. I always hated the Drill and Ceremonies they made us do every meeting, but I liked the events we participated in. They’re a nice group, overall, and if you’re interested in a military career, or even just serving your community, CAP might be a good first step.

It is quite sad that we don't get as much recognition, CAP is a really good program and I love it!

My oldest was in the Navy Sea Cadets for 5 years, daughter was in CAP for two years (quite to do pageants and cheer), and now my youngest is in CAP. These are both good programs for kids to learn responsibility, respect and goal achievement.

My squadron is the absolute worst. I’m in “severe trouble” for kicking a door. No, I didn’t break it. It was a steel door. A senior member was standing outside the door for some reason (would’ve hit him even if I opened the door normally). My squadron blames every problem on me.
