How to Train Your Mule to Lead with Manners

Learn how to train a mule to lead step-by-step. Me and my mule had a few problems when it came time to lead him around on a lead line. I like a nice polite, well behaved animal when I have to lead it around for whatever reason. Animals can be a huge joy or a huge pain in the butt and what makes the difference is manners. I can spend the whole day around a well behaved animal but can't get away from an annoying one fast enough. Animals like people are not born knowing, so we have to teach them.
Here is how I taught my mule Charlie how to walk on the lead line and stand with manners.

Best mule lead training advice ever! Mule sister totally 'gets' mule psyche, and will now have a mule that works with her as a friend, rather than slave. Very good technique. Thank you.

You could call them “redirection circles”. Basically you’re redirecting that brain to get them out of their stubborn mindset. Such a good informative video

Thank you for this video. I adopted a 3 yr old mini mule. He does all of the bad things lol but he's a lovebug. Looking forward to using your techniques and being able to take him on hikes and social settings. He's small but he is SO strong.

I love this! Getting a 3-month-old molly mule on Tuesday and I'm taking some crash courses on how to begin handling her. This was very helpful; thank you!!

Becky, This is you at your very BEST. It shows that you had your heart in this one. Genuine and incredibly instructive common sense lesson. Charlie is an adorable mule and lucky to have you as his mistress. I would love to see you do a video on how you deal with the mosquitoes and fleas in Florida. Happy trail riding!

Great video! - but it was more the gorgeous Golden's antics, playing lone fetch with the ball and kissing the mule that had me in stitches! plus the Chihauhau and guinea fowl in the background..brilliant! you can't stage things like that. Loved it..more please.

Liked your video Becky you have a way with animals. I'm from a family of 8 and we all grew up on a small farm. Had chores feeding the animals hogs, horses, cows and chickens. My worse experience with any was Guernsy milk cow that didnt like me and i never cared much for her either. My brother's and sisters got along with her fine and my mother normally milked her as i never could. I miss those days. My older sister was the best with horses and got her own red roan horse and broke him to lead, ride, and worked him pulling firewood, and work in the garden. Life seemed so good back 50 years ago. Take care and keep us informed with your video's i really appreciate them.

Such a great video, my horse is guilty of all of these things and I've been using the stud chain. I'm going to stop and do this. I also don't believe in treats. Thank you!! (I, additionally, do appreciate your microphone when you were walking away from the camera. Sounded great, no matter where you were)

Less is more is a sure rule for equine animals. Glad you think so Becky. So those who don't know what I mean always start with little pressure if done should work for most and if more pressure is needed then you can always add a little more.
