I've been playing for 15 years now and I've learnt guitar and music by myself. And I'm done with tutorial as I'm pretty confortable to play anything I want, I mean I know how to practice. But your channel is a gold mine ! I've been searching a good way to learn inversions and when you search for them you'll end up in obscure jazz chords. They are very nice, but not so easy to start with. So keep up the good work !

This is a breakthrough lesson for me and is much appreciated, Finally I am starting to see the Chord shapes throughout the neck.

Simplicity, the way you explain it. 2 chords played 4 ways, that sound so different is a beautiful way colour your music. Thanks so much for unlocking this mystery. It's really very simple. You are the best. 👍😲🎸🎸🎸😊

Definitely the best guitar channel ever! greetings from Germany. I would like that you explain how to create new sound changing the tuning of the guitar?

This is a subset of the CAGED approach, and probably a great way to get started on that. Step 2: do the same thing for E minor / A minor. Then add E7/A7 and finally E-7/A-7. That will cover a whole lot of ground, musically: country, blues, and rock, and at least half of jazz chords. This provides an alternate framework for leads (versus scale patterns). It really comes into fruition when you learn to merge the two frameworks seamlessly. Yeah, I'm still working on that. It's also a great way to play rhythm guitar, rather than just strumming chords, especially for blues. [My three steps to learning guitar: 1) learn basic chords, 2) learn barre chords, 3) learn NOT to play barre chords. ;-) ]

Great way to introduce triads. Most videos just load you with theory, but this makes it pretty easy

Haha I'm encouraged to see that beard at an earlier stage with a little less density. Paul, you've grown as a player, teacher and beardsmen too! Cheers, love your style of teaching and you play beautifully

The song Sonho dourado by daniel lanois is a beautiful example which does this with extra attention to dynamics and string choice - highly recommend that for a jam practice too 👍👍

Btw you're awesome at guitar dude, well done and thanks for the quality vids!

newer player here, enjoyed this, but here is my "noob' question...what order do you pick the strings? It doesn't seem like it's straightforward bottom to top...I assume you do pick some of the open strings when they are part of the chord? or just the strings that are fingered? Is playing the shape like this a type of arpeggio? Seems quite different than the arpeggiations (is this a word?) that you teach in other vids...maybe the community can weigh in as well...cheers, and thanks for the lessons...
