LYRICS

In the mornings
I was anxious
It was better just to stay in bed
Didn't want to fail myself again

Running through all the options
And the endings
Were rolling out in front of me
But I couldn't choose a thread to begin

And I could not love
'Cause I could not love myself
Never good enough, no
That was all I'd tell myself
And I was not well
But I could not help myself
I was giving up on living

In the morning
You were leaving
Traveling south again
And you said you were not unprepared

And all the dead ends
And disappointments
Were fading from your memory
Ready for that lonely life to end

And you gave me love
When I could not love myself
And you made me turn
From the way I saw myself
And you're patient, love
And you help me help myself
And you save me,
You save me,
You save me

Instead of calling it "depression", it's a song dedicated to all those great people who help us choose paths and makes us believe in ourselves. It is a love song for them. Teachers, parents, friends, our guardians.

Gotye is someone we will be talking about for decade when he's dead. A timeless voice and an incredible sense of music. God bless him. Proper artist.

I love the way Gotye combines his songs with various animated visuals. I think they are way more interesting than music video's with people.

This song saved my life after my relationship from hell with a girl who abused me multiple ways and because my new girlfriend played this for me and said stay with me and give me a future and I'll forget about your past. It's been 6 years and she helped me get off heroin. Thank you baby and thank you Gotye

The people who are thinking Gotye is a one-hit-wonder are missing out on a LOT of great music.

Every time I listen to this song I always think about the people in my life who never gave up on me and I cry... And then I cry some more when I think about the people who don't have that support... If you're reading this and you're depressed please know you're not alone and you're not worthless! Don't be afraid to talk to someone about how you're feeling and please remember you're life is important!

This is literally the polar opposite of Somebody That I Used To Know.

This is, in my opinion, the best love song I've ever heard. As someone with depression who eventually found love when I believed I didn't deserve to, this goes straight to my heart.

This song perfectly describes a person with depression finding love.

The visual representation of this song is perfect

It annoys me that you can find great music all across the web, but the radio seems to be only interested in playing bullshit after bullshit just because the 'artists' are well known.

I'm having a difficult life right now and music seems the only place I can take refuge. This song really helps me a lot...

Honestly, I'd say this is by far his most underrated song. It's so sincere and genuine, it deserves much more recognition than it has.

Gotye and Hozier: underrating at its fines.

I don't know if you're gonna read this, but I want to share some thoughts. Whenever I hear one-hit wonders, I just get a painful urge to dig deeper, to find more about the artist. And whenever I do, most of the time, I find a treasure trove of good stuff.

Just think about it; If you make something that is so good that resonates through the world, how can that be by accident? There must be more to the artist than simple luck or happenstance! And these other music videos that are on this channel are a testament to this. It's obvious that you pour your heart and soul into everything you do and every one of them are good.

I almost never comment, but I just had to put this out here, because I came to respect you and your work so much.

It’s really interesting coming back to Gotye’s music as an adult. When I first listened to Making Mirrors I was 13. I’m 19 now and his music just hits me a lot deeper, accompanied by the beautiful visual animation. I just love the feeling of respecting and loving these songs like it’s the first time of heard them.
