Optimum No Rinse Version 6 Rinseless Wash Review

preview_player
Показать описание
Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine was the first rinseless wash I used when it was first introduced on the market in 2005. At the time this was game changing as rinseless washing was unheard of in the States. Over the years Optimum has revised it to continually improve it. With Version 6, I am testing it out to see if it has gotten back to what I enjoyed about it many years ago with the Version 4 and 5 being a bit of a let down. Enjoy the video.

Hi everyone. I have cleaned up and removed comments that don’t pertain to the topic of discussion. These types of comments trigger negativity and I’m not having that. It is still sad I have to do this but it is what it is. I encourage all of you to help each other and not exclude each other.

Thank you for the fair and honest review Mike. You bought the product with your own money and gave an honest, unbiased opinion, we appreciate that! We don't provide products to reviewers, affiliate links or any monetary incentives to reviewers. For reviewers to tell the truth about a product without the intent to steer sales to brands that pay the reviewer with affiliate marketing and freebies is a service to the detailing community.

Thank you for this video. I use ONR version 5 so it is interesting to hear that you believe version 6 is actually an improvement. I find it very annoying and a complete waste of my time when a YouTube video is made about a rinseless wash but the reviewer decides to throw in a little (or a lot of) extra product. I am glad to see that you stuck to the recommended dilution ratio, which I believe makes your evaluation very useful.

You're a national treasure for the rinseless world Mike G, thanks for the continued no-nonsense reviews. With 20 years of experience with all versions of ONR, your viewpoint is much more valuable compared to someone who maybe just tried ONR for the first time in 2025. 👀

ONR has had some serious competition in recent years and it is obvious that OPT has noticed and is not ready to be relegated. I'm not certain that V4 and V5 were a downgrade, maybe more of a sidestep as they attempted to meet the new performance benchmarks that other competitors were setting, and they didn't quite hit those marks while retaining the performance they are known for. I'm glad to see that it looks like ONR has returned with a worthy successor to keep up with the market.

It is awesome we have the variety in rinseless washes that we do now. ONR may not have that wetting effect that a hybrid or surfactant-only rinseless has, but the way it encapsulated and started breaking down those bee spots is one of the high points of how ONR works. As for those oily road film deposits that attach to the lower panels, even though ONR works differently and doesn't clean that off the wash media as well, you still get effective and safe cleaning of the surface (which is the goal).

I think with some of the surfactant and hybrid washes, some people are starting to expect a little too much out of a rinseless wash and are stepping outside the zone of safe wash methods. If running water is absolutely not an option, you don't have any other products or you're limited on how many towels you have and you need to get a job done...maybe you would want to have a "stronger" cleaner. But for a straight rinseless maintenance wash of an appropriate moderately dusty/dirty vehicle (or you're able to do the appropriate prewash)...ONR still hits the mark and performs exactly as it was designed to do.

Well done Mike. I got to pick Dr. G’s brain about some optimum products the other day. Pretty cool brand and history.

Mike G, I appreciate your real-time, honest washing experience! I, too, was not crazy about version 5, and kept going back to my diminishing gallon of version 4 from 2022; the v5 seemed to dry so quickly, that I was chasing polymer spots. It's great to hear from a user of ONR since its inception, as I have used it since 2017 when I stumbled upon the TRC Detallks videos with Levi and Yvan! Thanks to your review, I just went on the OPT website and bought a gallon of version 6.Thanks again for sharing your experience and insights!

Thanks for the review! I still have a bunch of v5 bottles but now I want to try the new version. ONR is the only rinseless wash I use, it's never let me down.

After the first 32oz bottle I bought a gallon of v5. I can't imagine my work without ONR now. I also have and actively use the DIY v2 1gal. Both seemed top-notch to me and have their uses for different situations, from pad washer to interior extraction, steamer, etc. I also strongly recommend ONR, they are one of those who are deep in the field and work on quality

Great video Mike. I’ve got tons of rinseless wash but when I’m ready to restock, will be looking to try ONR. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. Great to see and hear different perspectives. I’m another guy who just bought a gallon of V5 three weeks ago…

I started using ONR in 2016 and have since maintained several cars with it. I had a car from 2016 to 2024 that I washed 2-3 times a month then entire time that I owned it, and probably 90% of the washes were with ONR. I never needed to polish that car over 8 years because it never developed any swirls or marring, and it wasn't even ceramic coated. I know it's nice to comment on the feel and they drying and all the other aspects of how it's used, but the only thing I really care about with a rinseless wash is how well it prevents swirls and scratches. ONR is the only brand I trust in that area.

Very good review. I have the V5 but I do want to try this one. Plus they have a new sponge and it looks interesting. I have other sponges but it’s tempting.

Great review Mike! I, like many others who are commenting, recently picked up V5 in the gallon and am set for a while. Once finished, I'll pick up V6, hopefully before V7 is out. I will say the Opti-Coat version so far has been my favorite rinseless wash out of the 12 types I've tried. Been also working through the new Griot's and its been good but not as exciting.

Thanks for your time with this review! How do you compare this one to CarPro Ech2o rinseless?

In terms of lubricants, polymers left behind, and ability to clean your wash media?

Thanks again Mike!

ONR is number 1 in my opinion. DIY 2nd. Pan 3rd. I haven’t tried any of the other ones yet. One day I will. But thanks for the V6 review.

Just finishing up v5 which I’ve found very useful. Giving Koch RRW a bash next and then will give this a go. Don’t see any need for ordinary shampoos now.
