Is Digital Combat Simulator Worth It? In this video, we get a glimpse into the life of a Thunderbird pilot as he reacts to flying the F16 Digital Combat Simulator. It's amazing how realistic the simulator is and how it can give pilots a better understanding of what they may experience in a real dogfight.

Jetclean has grown so much so quickly, but I feel there’s still so much untapped potential if he got more into DCS and combined that with his general knowledge and content style!

Razbam is making the F-15E Strike Eagle module for DCS and should be released sometime this year. I can't wait to see how you break down that module when it comes out. Thanks for the video.

Awesome another real fighter pilot joining dcs. The moment this men does I'm subscribing. Definitely a plus if you create tutorials videos and teach us "the way."

Most excellent! I will beef up my DCS rig then. Former AFROTC aviation scholarship cadet (weeded out from poor hearing and flat feet--but good 20/10 vision). Regardless, I ended up doing ops research for NAVAIR / Pentagon, and worked as Flight Test Engineer with Navy Test Pilots at NAWCAD, PAX River just prior to 1st prototpyes of V-22 and F-22 / F-35. Some trips to Wright-Patterson w Air Force pilots, and China Lake test ranges, also doing some of the earliest computer simulation studies on the then-emergent AIM-9X and off-boresight HMD. At the time, we were reportedly behind Russia in off-boresight capability, due to the cutbacks in the early 90s. I did the groundschool portion of Top Gun, and flew the dome sims for F-14C/F-18C, real cockpits on hydralics and 360 degree view powered by giant supercomputers. What I / we all need is a home dome projector system for DCS VR, because flying with just one computer monitor (or even 3) is sub-optimal. Need the ability to turn around and look at wingmen in real time. Not sure if 3D Occulus goggles can do it well.

The bullet thing you are talking about at 11 minutes is actually the sub munitions of a CBU97/105

The F-16 was the very first scale model I built as a kid. Such an amazing and versatile platform. Easy to see why it's still relevant to this day and used by so many nations around the world.

When you do go to DCS I highly recommend using a VR headset like the HP Reverb G2. Nothing on a flat Monitor compares.

The level of detail put into this is amazing, particularly with systems. The A-10C is probably the most complex of the DCS modules currently.

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for your great content.
When you are up and running with DCS, maybe it’s an idea to create actual basic and important tutorials on how to operate and fly the plane.
And I don’t mean tutorials like all the ones that are allready there.
But for example: how to do a flat turn, how to properly do a AOA landing, basic flight manoeuvres and dogfighting skills, how to intercept your flight lead, procedures when AAR with a 4 flight. That kind of stuff.
I really think, this is missing in the DCS Community.
How cool would it be to learn that from a actual F-16/F-15e pilot.

It's amazing how detailed DCS is. Even the the escape maneuver that you called out in the video is taught in the DCS training for basic A-G(Weapons release and then a 25 degree climb).

That’d be mint if one day soon on a multiplayer server, you hear Be Jet Clean do a comms check on SRS and see him spawn in next to you. I can’t wait for you to get a PC setup running DCS! 🤙🏻😎

Great videos, man.

The Block 52 has the PW F100 engines, same as the F-15, while the block 50 has the GE F110 hence the difference in air intakes. However in terms of everything else they're the same

My favorite story I ever heard was the Hog drivers in Gulf war 1 using the maverick as a poor man's flir.
They would activate it on the wing, and task it to their display, link it to the ballistic computer and use the I.R. sensor of the missile to find targets in the desert at night. And than stand off target using the gun. They usually returned with full bombs and missiles, but an empty gun magazine.
Watch Kill Box narrated by Michael Ironside.
They talk anout this.

I’ve wanted my own F-16 since the early 80’s! What a beautiful jet !
Maybe it was just me, but I was hoping to see you flying in DCS and hearing what you thought of the sim.

The DCS community is always supportive of real pilots lending a little of their experience to enhance our virtual ones. Hope to see you in the skies!
