If i remember correctly. Higher end scopes get tested to ensure they are in correct working order. Rifles get test fired at the factory. I think scopes get a rudamentary test for ensuring nothing is crazy.

Amazon does NOT touch the product inside the box, the seller is in control of everything. Amazon doesn't control the price, the product manufacturing or anything lol. Seems like midway is probably just being sketchy and using Amazon as a means of transportation and selling.

Nope it’s the seller, a lot of the sellers repackage demo merchandise, or returned products and sell as new. I bought a Burris optic same issue as you. Amazon will accept the returns, and if they get enough returns or complaints on seller they will terminate their Amazon store.

I once bought a carbon fiber S550 GT500 spoiler, marketed as brand new, with FIVE defaced shipping labels on it.
The spoiler was damaged of course which is why it had been returned so many times. Cracked, scuffed, generally unacceptable.
I left them the nastiest review I could manage.

I bet that was for quality control testing. Usually they would have some felt on the rings they use to avoid scratching it.

At least you got a real one. I tried 3 times from 1 purchase to get a x300u-b on Amazon. 1st one was fake, returned it, 2nd fake, returned it, 3rd one wasn't even the correct color and it was also fake so I just got my money back.

I've also got fake Romeo5s and returned them and fake Streamlight products and also returned them. I just don't give amazon or Bezos any of my money anymore.

I bought a “new” Athlon Ares BTR scope on Amazon. The first thing I noticed was the zero stop had been set (which never would be from the factory). When I took the turret cap off to clear the zero stop, I saw the turrets mechanism should signs of wear and stretches on parts. The windage turret movement was wonky, too. It was hard not to turn two to three clicks to the left no carefully you tried to rotate one click.

Just return it. Idk why you were going through Amazon when you didn't have to anyway. Support the smaller companies any time you can.

I will never buy anything firearm-related from amazon. A buddy of mine ordered the Sig Romeo and juliet. He thought that's what he got and then I told him that something was a little off. The finish was different first of all and come to find out he didn't get the Romeo and Juliet he got some shit Chinese trash variant of it.

Fuck Amazon when it comes to anything gun related.

I just sent back some batteries from Amazon. They were shipped in a ziplock bag instead of the Duracell packaging and all the batteries were completely dead.

I received a completely broken athlon 2.5-12 that was missing the manual and had clearly been used and someone tried to repair the lense with thread tape causing particulates of the tape to get on the Inside of the tube and lense. I'll never buy optics off Amazon

There wasn't a packing slip in there? I received a radio I bought new, said was new, from a "dealer", and no I made sure to buy a new one, and not a preowned or refurbished. When I received the package it was factory sealed only it came with a pink slip showing it was "certified Amazon refurbished". Boy did I call in bitching because the radio was for a customer for Daytona Bikeweek. I called up bitching: i paid $570 for a radio that retails for $520 because I couldn't wait the week for shipping... Amazon IS apparently allowed to falsely advertise refurbished products as new because they say so. This was confirmed by the Hindi guy on the phone, and I let him know that in America if I buy new I buy new; not something that's pretty much "good enough cuz I said so". Amazon needs to be knocked down a few pegs.
