About this video

In this video, we’ll show you the six things you need to keep in mind when creating your print-on-demand startup budget and also go through a real example of a startup budget for a Shopify store.

First, you’ll need to choose an ecommerce platform on which to build your store on, taking in these three factors - the platform itself, hosting and domain. Open-source platforms like WooCommerce are free to use, while others, like Shopify and Squarespace, have a monthly subscription fee. Marketplaces like Etsy and eBay charge you a percentage of your sales and collect a fee for each listing you make.

Creating a brand logo and other branding visuals, as well as designing your storefront can be done for free, however, you might want to hire a designer to do it for you. Creating your product designs can also be done for free with Printful’s mockup generator or free graphic design software like Photopea or Gimp.

Once your designs are ready, it's time to test them out. There are a few things to keep in mind about Printful's sample orders. You get a number of samples each month with a 20% discount off their fulfillment price.

There's a ton of things you can do to get your brand name out there and get your first sales, and the good news is, a lot of them are completely free! However, the fastest way to reach people outside of your current audience is by using paid advertising, like Facebook Ads.

You also have to keep in mind that whenever your customer places an order, you charge the customer the retail price, and when the order comes through to Printful, Printful charges you for the fulfillment from the payment method you've set up.

Honestly just the SEO alone made me interested in Printful. The moment i search print-on-demand, I got a bunch of listings for videos by you guys. Hardly any other people, let alone competitor brand. The only one to show up was Printify, but not only is it dated it also hasn't been updated with wordpress. Plus you guys have all the great free content, and good UI.

the budget chart at the end was helpful. I screenshot it for reference.

The real issue, which i feel like a lot of people here clicked the video for, is what the profit margin would be for that $100 sales. A good bella Canvas shirt runs something like 12.85, and if you sell that at 20, that is roughly $7 a shirt. So now with that $100 sales number, your profit is $35...but you spent $50 on facebook ads....

So the actual start-up is low cost but you have to have a substantial amount of money in your account to operate? Essentially someone who is practically broke should save before starting...🤔

Blessings everyone. Can someone please explain step number 6. From what I’m understanding, EVERY TIME someone places an order I need to have at least the cost of that order ALREADY in my Printful payout account to fulfill that order, otherwise if I don’t have at least the cost they won’t fulfill the order.

If I’m correct, my question would be this: What about if I hit a grand slam and I get, let say, $5, 000 worth of orders in one day and I don’t have the money in my Printful payout account, what would happen then? Do I need to wait for my e-commerce platform to pay me so I can pay Printful and then orders start getting fulfilled? I hope I’m making sense. *God* bless.

What is the very FIRST step to do? Set up e commerce platform and store OR set up a printful account??

Is there a video showing how to link your online store/ merchandises with printful merchandise ordering system? How to connect the two into one, the store website?
Hope my questions are not silly.

Hello, a question on something I don't understand. Why should I have shopify store when I already have printful store? Why should they be integrated?

Great video and information as always...one tiny issue...the word "successful" was spelled wrong on the graphic at around 5:06 in the video. Best of luck to everyone! I have been using Printful for about 6 months now and have only good things to report!

When customer order products and pay on our store, you automatically process and fulfill them when orders come through, and ship them out to our customer. Can this be manual? mean you just proceed right after we approved and sent you the new file which had visual copyright and high resolution? thanks
