Nancy Kanwisher (MIT) presents “The Functional Architecture of the Human Brain.”

SYMPOSIUM DESCRIPTION: This year's IACS symposium on the Future of Computation in Science and Engineering focused on the converging fields of neuroscience and computer science/machine learning. BRAIN + MACHINES brought together machine learning experts, neuroscientists, academic researchers, and scholars across several fields to discuss what we can learn from the study of structure and function in the brain and efforts to reverse-engineer the brain. Topics explored include the implications of replacing the human brain with machines and the related benefits and risks for society, as well as how treatments for brain-related problems are being developed through better understanding of the brain led by advances in technology and computation.
