As a teen I remember Coetzer. I am South African so there was a stigma of Apartheid about him. Wasnt sure because the world boycotted S.A. I see he was 6ft4 even and this match against Bowe makes me realise how good PC was! Really great boxer. To take full hits from Bowe and counter is impressive. However, my memories of Afrikaner men here in South Africa those days are scary. Big powerful and very intimidating. Strange to find this fight now. Brings back lots of memories.

Coetzer is sure a tough guy in the ring. The two low blows, one of was deducted point from Riddick Bowe, were just unfortunate.

In the sixth round, Bowe hit Coetzer below the belt, for which the referee Mills Lane had deducted a point.

In the seventh round, Bowe hit Coetzer with what appeared to be a right-handed low blow. Coetzer turned away, and anticipated that Lane would warn Bowe, however, he left his hands down, and Bowe delivered a jolting right uppercut.

Bowe then followed with a left and right that drove Coetzer into the ropes, which caused Lane to step in and end the match with a TKO. "It definitely shouldn't have been stopped, " said Coetzer. "It was a low blow."
