My wife did the same thing! She got a million dollars in a Cobel buy back check! She filled for divorce and left me for a younger man/boy and karma kicked inn. And nothing good came from the money.

The judge gave her a chance to divide the asset 50/50, and she refused. So, the judge dropped the bomb on her and gave him the entire amount. Now, she had no money and no husband. 😅

This article is decades old. Denise’s winnings were actually part of a group lottery pool that she was engaged in while at work. Denise committed fraud because under California Law her winnings were considered “community property” which meant that 50 percent of those winnings would be entitled to her now ex-husband. Not only did the ex-husband win all of her original winnings (albeit in a settlement and it’s unknown as to whether he has ever been paid a penny of it) Denise was still “on the hook” for all tax liabilities related to the original winnings.
