There have been more people treated very bad, although having made great contributions for humanity. Because of homosexuality like in the case of Alan Turing or Roger Casement. They should be remembered and honored much more too… also Wilhelm Reich was declared crazy at some point, even though his early theories and social engagement were impressive.
