I just realized I have a Griffey Jr relic from this set. Olerud used to wear a batting helmet in the field as a precaution because of an aneurysm he had when he was 20.

In regards to John O’s helmet I’m Pretty sure something unrelated but serious and life threatening happened to him in one of his college off-seasons but this issue led to doctors discovering a Brain aneurysm so he had to have some pretty serious (especially for the time) brain surgery to fix it and ever since he wore the batting helmet to protect the clamped off aneurysm he had repaired (he pitched in college so I’m sure he worried more about come backers at first, side note I’m pretty sure he was a lights out pitcher at one time from what I recall)

I love the base cards but the memorabilia ain't worth crap. Read the COA on the back. Those aren't game used memorabilia cards but award ceremony cards. There's a difference.

Olerud had brain surgery before his rookie season, he had collapsed on the field and it was discovered he had an aneurysm, and he wore that helmet as a precaution for the rest of his career.

Great video! I remember Gold label back to 1998 for football. Cannot remember is they had it for baseball at that time too though. I pulled a Maury Wills and an Eddie Murray Patch from this set back in the day from retail.
