A well-preserved copy of the "Book of the Dead" was just uncovered in Egypt. This copy was written on a papyrus scroll that is over 42 feet long. Along with the book, the Egyptian government says archaeologists have uncovered ornaments, amulets, and decorations that date back to the New Kingdom Period of the Pharaohs. The recently uncovered "Book of the Dead" will be showcased in the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Incredible how well preserved everything appears to be after thousands of years!

If there's one thing I've learned from 20 years of watching horror movies it's that you better put that thing back where you found it and leave it alone 😂

We were warned about this in a movie. The good one, not the crappy reboot.

Have we learned NOTHING from ‘The Mummy’? Y’all better not read aloud from it!
But I’m all honesty that’s so freaking cool and it looks dang near new! It preserved perfectly!

Awesome find. Although I always get a giggle from hearing stories written on paper ~4000 years ago as "mythology", but stories written ~2000 years ago on paper "THAT REALLY HAPPENED!"

Ah yes, 'Necronomicon Ex Mortes' otherwise known as "the book of the dead".
The book served as a passageway to the evil worlds beyond and was written long ago, when the seas ran red with blood.
This blood was used to ink the book and in the year 1300 A.D the book disappeared without a trace.
I am very happy the scroll has been relocated and is being showcased in an Egyptian museum for all to see.

The Magi would never allow him to be released, for he would arise a walking disease, a plague upon mankind, an unholy flesh-eater with the strength of ages, power over the sands, and the Glory of invincibility.

Looks brand new. How did they manage to preserve this? It should have dissolved as soon as it touched oxygen.

Africans called their Holy Book "The Coming Forth By Day" not "The Book of the Dead, " a European renaming.

Coming Forth By Day is the accumulation of knowledge that results in an acute awareness of nature and its secrets which Africans understood to be God's Words.

I can imagine them having hand cranked scroll readers in their libraries with signs on the wall saying "BE KIND REWIND"
