Hitchhiking Around The Globe | Season 2 Episode 67

I am trying to Hitchhike Around The Globe. I literally want to circumnavigate the planet without using any means of public transportation.
From my hometown Tübingen in Germany I will hitchhike through Europe looking for an opportunity to help out on a private sailing boat to cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean and Central America.
From there I have to catch another boat over the vast Pacific ocean in order to reach the Asian continent to complete my journey by hitchhiking back to my hometown in Germany.

The guy that took you in the car and that you couldn't understand (heavy accent and talking quite fast) said something along the lines of:
"I am glad a brought this guy all the way here and being able to drive him around and take some kilometers from his journey hitchhiking around the world. It was a pleasure taking him, I hope to stay in contact with him and that it all goes well for him".

Also yeah, that area of Spain is very empty and not the most economically active. Along the east and north coasts you can see more car and truck traffic indeed.

In Spain I had the same experience with hitchiking. In Salamanca I had to wait for 8 hours.
But you will see in Portugal it is very easy.

The variety of climate regions is enormous in Spain
It is one of the biggest countries in Europe but it is not really populated.
Population in Germany or France is more than double.

JoJo, I've seen some of your videos in Spain and your struggles hitchhiking here. You should keep in mind that hitchhiking in Spain is extremely unpopular due to several reasons, but the main reason is a very mediatic crime that cost the lives of three young hitchhiking girls, "The Alcasser Girls".

People here are afraid of hitchhiking, and most drivers are afraid of hitchhikers or not used to see them.
