My first flight went into the sun and I lost sight of the Champ.  I released the throttle to make it sail down but after 1 1/2 hours of searching I never saw it again.

That's how my first flight went. These are so easy to fly. I was scared cause I'd never flown before. Drive RC cars and trucks for 30 years but this was my first plane. Very easy to fly these.

This was. I do have a "knack" for how and airplane should be controlled. The good news if it's harder for you, we eventually broke off the vertical tail which is probably the hardest part to fix, and a couple strips of 3M packing tape had it flying good-as-new.

This would have been a good detail to take into consideration. I did not adjust the control surface throw rates, so that would definitely have helped for a smother experience.

Seriously, it was! Perhaps playing video games with joysticks helps? I'm very familiar with airplanes so maybe that allows an "intuition" for how to fly them. But this was the first R/C airplane I'd ever flown. The only flying before this was done in my living room doing little takeoffs because I was getting impatient with the weather not allowing me to fly it.

I played around with it indoors to get a feel for the throttle, but other than that, the first time it met virgin wind outside.

Since it was your very first flight, did you go with the recommendations and put the controls in low-rate?

Nice Flight for a Newbie! I couldn't fly like that if when I just started (although I learned on the radian glider..)

This thing does have plenty of elevator power. The key (for anything involving aircraft, whether real or remote control) is smooth inputs. I was jerky at first and you notice I got the hang of it a loop or two before I landed. Just keep practicing, it's super easy to fix with packing tape and looks (and flies) good as new (those trees stole our tail once in later flights).
