TECH TALKS
Welcome to EBC Brakes' 'Tech Talks' series, where we look at each of our friction materials in more detail.
Watch as R&D Manager, Steve Payne, talks us through the technical details of our product lines, whilst addressing common myths and queries in the process.

REDSTUFF
This time, it's the turn of EBC's Redstuff pad to be put under the spotlight. Redstuff (EBC's red pad) is a road-legal, low-dust ceramic brake pad designed to keep dust deposit and noise to a minimum.

Disturbing how well these brake. Have a set on a Ford Taurus SHO. It hauls a 4500 lb to a stop incredibly well. Not to mention that the bedding in process will make you physically ill! Great product- 100% recommended

Props to facing previous criticisms head on, not enough firms do that. There are so many forum nerds who regurgitate previous comments made by others when they've never tried them themselves!

These have improved braking on the b9 Audi A4. Red stuff for life on my daily driver. Just wouldn’t fit anything else now. Thanks for such a awesome product. Yes they last long. Love it.

Interesting video. I'm getting these fitted to my mk5 VDUB R32, as I don't want the dust on my chrome alloys. Nice to also hear it's an upgrade, too. 😊

So happy with these pads, they really are excellent. They last a long time, hard to overheat, low dust that cleans off easily. Should be factory on every car really. Better than Bendix etc. in my experience.

I have these on my prelude, and it is the best pad I've used to date. Might try the yellow next time around.

I just ordered a set of these for my Nissan Maxima, along with Mtec brake rotors.

Will the red stuff pads be recommended for a bmw m340i with the larger rotors package? Car is stock with 382hp. I do not track my car but do spirited driving occasionally. I’m focus on reduce rotor wear, low dust but increase braking performance. I live in a hot climate (South Florida).

ordered red stuff front and rear pads to go on my bmw m4 competition f82 2020 70plate = I hope they'll do the job and stop most of the dust

I can confirm the RED STUFF brake pads are a huge upgrade compared to OEM brakes. I had them on my Chrysler 300C . With stock brakes it could fade at high speed braking (200 km/h +) with REDSTUFF and EBC TURBO GROOVE brake discs I had much more brake power and they never faded. They are much more low dust then any other brake pads I have tried. A thing to get used to, is that REDSTUFF has a short warm up period when you brake. They brake as a OEM the first 0.5 second, then the force sets in

I will be switching from red to yellow. Cold bite is awesome but stopping from 140mph gets sketchy.

Had these years ago on a 2004 modified impreza sti and they were very good, aggressive but amazing brakes, came around a blind bend one day pulling almost 3 figures with a heard of escaped sheep in the road, the thing literally stood on its nose and still stopped short, was considering yellow stuff for my new car, stage 1 mk3 focus
Rs, , now wondering which ones to go for

Got these on my Lancer evo X. Changed from the standard Brembo pads. These are great. Running with Godspeed J hook floating discs. Good combination and excellent brake feel/bite.

I just ordered these "red stuff" for my 2016 WRX and will be putting them on next week. Do I need to apply brake grease on the back of them before installing them?

What’s the main difference between the red and green pads?

And I have a 03’ Toyota Avalon. What color would you recommend I purchase for the roads in New York City?

In the video you reference the red pads are good for 200 to 250 "brake". I am not sure what that term means. Can you clarify? If you are referring to horsepower, that sounds low to me but I am in the U.S. so maybe the numbers differ?
Thanks!

Any recommendations for calipers ? I'd like to buy your break pads but dont know what are the ones shown here (part number please). It is for a DODGE CHARGER RT 5.7 2007. I will buy them with red calipers if you could recommend some affordable ones please. Thank you

I agree that the bite on these pads is excellent. I just upgraded from OEM pads on my Audi R8. I'm still seeing a lot of brake dust (after over 100 miles) but its reddish in color. Is this the coating that is wearing off, and once the pads are bedded in wheels will be much cleaner? Thanks in advance for your reply.
