If she's not supposed to publicly criticize her prime minister, if she's supposed to be neutral due to her being a constitutional monarch, it seems coming out with a statement praising the prime minister (as the gentlemen suggested) would equally be wrong.

It sounds stupid, but I really love the crisp SOUNDS of The Crown; the perfectly pronounced speech, the shoes clicking and clacking on the tile and wooden floors, the sounds of horses hoofs on cobblestones etc. If I was blind and could only hear, I would STILL love this series... Who knew I would ever miss real shoes--everyone today wears sneakers...

The Queen was very unhappy with the Miners strike this is well documented . The Queen ruled the whole of Britain, rich, poor, North, South, East and West. She felt Thatcher’s attack on certain communities was regionalist.

Prime ministers and advisers come and go, but the monarch remains.

I lived in UK during the Thatcher Poll Tax days, and her subsequent fall from the party. She deserved it. She wiped out all the good things she had done up to that point in in one fell swoop. Incredibly cold hearted woman with no clue what it did to the elderly and people living in poorer boroughs.

Olivia Colman portrays Her Magesty The Queen Elizabeth II Brilliantly and with perfection.

By far Elizabeth's smartest policy was never to publicly express support for any party or cause no matter what. That's why she didn't like her family members to vote, because it could be seen as expressing support for one party or another.

The role of the Monarch is to keep a PM from getting too powerful. ER understood that.

Thatcher thought, when she first became Priminister that she could bully the Queen, she learnt soon she could not . She then tried to ape her . If you look at some of the old photographs of her . She wearing a diamond broach just like the Queen's favorite, and one the Queen wore quite often . Parliament has to give consent for the monarch to leave the country. The Queen wished to go to Australia, ( I think it was Australia ) . Thatcher refused, the Queen went anyway .

The Queen: And if it were to become public knowledge that there had been an unprecedented rift between the Sovereign and her prime minister, would that be so bad?😐👸
Martin and Michael (thinking to themselves): Uh-Oh. She's not amused.😲😳😟

Martin wasn’t even the queen’s private secretary when Thatcher was PM. He’d retired by that point. Phillip Moore was the queen’s private secretary for most of the Thatcher years, followed by William Heseltine for the remainder of it

The queen can not give an opinion, but she has the right to be unhappy with Thatcher and not support the PM.

The actress who played Thatcher did an excellent job.
As soon as I heard her voice I hated her as much as the real one,
Uncanny!

It should be pointed out that the Queen was eventually proven correct.

And when it all went wrong the Queen threw this man under the proverbial bus

For someone with a natural sense of humor like Olivia, playing Elizabeth II is a masterclass in acting.

Wherever the truth of this, Thatcher didn’t overstep the mark again with the Queen after this.
