Affinity Designer & Glyphs App - Font creation

I havent createt a font in years as it´s so time consuming, but I got inspired from my last design (previous video) and decided to try to create a font again..

It might not be the fastes or most productive way to do it, but this is how I like to do it.. First sketching the letters in either the raster section of Affinity Designer on the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil. Then when happy with the letters I make a new layer and start making the vector outlines. I know most people import the pictures into Glyphs App and do the vector directly there, but I feel more comfortable drawing them with the Apple Pencil in Affinity Designer, at least for now.. :-)

Very often there are some conflicts betwene different vector programs so when doing the outlines they are more or less correct as I most likely have to fix and adjust later on..

Then exporting the outlines as a .svg file and import them into Glyps App on my MacBook Pro and start editing and making a font out of it..

It´s normal to kern a bit later in the process, but I cant help it.. love to see the letters shaping word.. also I do it more early to see what letters need or would look better with some changes.. :-)

Here is a little video of my process..

Music is something I put together quickly just for the video in Cusbasis on the iPad Pro.

What magic is happening at 0:08? How do you bring all the nodes into a straight line? Thank you 😊

How are you making those perfect curves? That's got to be a plugin, right?
