I've found out about this episode from the "i'm retarded?" meme. I just want to bring light to the episode and expose it as more than just that meme. Yea, I agree that some of the music choices really mess up some scenes to the point of making it memeable and not very effective.

That woman is the only reason the plate broke. No one can tell me otherwise

2:17 that was clearly the lady’s fault

I came from the meme but god damn, I haven't seen an episode of this in my life but I can already tell it has a lot of passion and heart behind it writing wise

Really an episode more about existential horror imo. Imagine living your day to day life, exactly like you are now. You hate all the little mistakes you make, but it's only normal. And one day, you find out you're just a broken version of everyone else, and you had no way of telling. Think of how horrifying that would be. And the worst part is, you don't even know if it's true for you right now or not.

Wow. I thought this was just insensitive meme but taken in context, it really makes you think about the life some people have.

Dean Stockwell brings it. This is an example of why this show ruled. It showed human moments and asked questions that made Quantum Leap one of the greatest shows of all time.

Nothing tears a family apart faster than a charming encyclopedia salesman!

Al's dialogue at the end (where he asks what sixteen-year-old dies of pneumonia) is compelling. Maybe it's just me, but I feel there's an implication that she died from neglect, or that the people there otherwise did something that led to her death (either accidentally or not) and tried to cover it up. Also, that "My Grandmother's Platter!" woman was a jerk. She knew the poor guy was a klutz, but made him work with the plates anyway, and THEN got angry with him when he dropped something. ~shakes head~

Her grandmothers platter is broken because she kept it to be used with the rest of the plates. And because she opened that door hard enough to knock someone off balance without knocking. But alas, it is the man's fault.

2:27 I'm angry the lady was upset about the platter and not that she got someone opening a door!

Al is straight up the voice of reason even though the main character is a scientist.

My mother and older brother watched this show and this is the only episode I remember and it makes me want to rewatch the show

It's hurts something awful to made fun of because you have a learning disability. Granted I have high functioning Asperger Syndrome and I've made a successful life for myself. But regardless growing up being made of, being called the R word and crying alone at home hurt almost as bad as losing my mom when I was 18. I totally empathize with Al when he started crying and flat out angry

Thanks for posting this. Yeah, it is cool for people not familiar with the show to understand the actual context of the meme.

Maybe "Quantum leap" needs to return. New actors new stories same principles...great life lessons. This generation truly needs it.
