Interesting. I always thought the Head Coach was ultimately responsible for everything that happens within all three phases of a game. I thought that the HC makes the final decisions. I guess Dan Quinn as the ATL HC didn't have the authority to walk up to Shanahan (who worked for Quinn) and OVERRULE HIM and say "Kyle run the damn ball. Bill Walsh, Bill Belichick, Jimmy Johnson, Chuck Noll, Tom Landry etc, all had that authority. I guess Dan Quinn is different. So by this logic, we all need to stop blaming Pete Carroll for not running Lynch in the SB and blame Darrell Bevell who was the OC, and Carroll gets off scot free.

I disagree with blaming Kyle because if Matt Ryan completes passes and keeps the chains moving, none of you are running your mouths. The same goes for the Seattle situation. Had Russell completed that pass, no one says they should have given the ball to Lynch.

I don’t know how much blame can be assigned to Kyle when Ryan made bad decisions on the field. Ryan lost 3 games last season with the analytics indicating the falcons had a 99% chance of winning. Ryan isn’t clutch but I think Kyle expects his qb’s to be exactly that, hence the play call.
