The important thing to keep in mind, for those who don't know, is that these were meant for sneaking around at night, and therefore would only be used at low speeds alongside Infantry.

My Grandma drove one of those through a bomb crater somewhat unintentionally, she'd say "they missed me by this much" then laugh about almost getting obliterated. Grandma was a badass

Fantastic job showing them off and getting it all to fit in the timespan of a Short. Keep up the great work! ❤

Now show the blackout lights from different distances! The lines (or cat eyes) are used to establish following distance in a convoy. If you see one red line from a taillight, you are too far behind, two lines and you are the correct distance and 4 lines, you are too close.

A lot of these comments dont understand that the camera doesnt show the light properly and the fact that these have been used for well over 70 years now.
It is hard to see them but better then making yourself a target

These people have never been in a night convoy. They do most certainly work. Yes it’s harder to see, and that’s the sacrifice you make

A vehicle built with purpose. We scratch our heads today asking why but 80 years ago these quirks meant you lived to see another day. And your ride did too.

I worked for the company who makes these lights now and was a production worker for assembly of these lights that we use today

There was a time after the war and again in the late 60's /early 70's you could get a jeep like this in a crate that didnt make it into a theater. They used to be advertised in magazines next to other adds that you could get surplus M1 Garands too.

I love how it came together! I was skeptical, as you showed the paper choices, but then it made sense as a whole. I think the neutral writing papers and book pages, plus the sanding, helped to tone it down. I’m looking forward to the next phase on this journal! ❤

Do you have a formula for how you choose the mix of papers? I have been trying to figure out a formula for prints/scrapbook paper + book page + writing papers + shorts.

I hear some military vehicles also equipped with glowing axles, like it's painted with phosphor to make it glow and serve the same purpose as blackout lights
Is it true???

It's common practice for infantry too, to point their flashlights down just right in front of their feet, so they don't attract as much attention. Ofc it can still be seen, but it's a lot harder to notice a flashlight pointing on the ground than one pointing right at you.
