In this episode of Built2Wander, we dive into the most recent B2W build, a 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road turned into an overland machine fit for the Rocky Mountain region. We take you through the ins and outs of the build, highlighting the components that were integral in taking this vehicle from stock to rock. We also hit the dirt for a long weekend of overlanding in Colorado, putting our new build through its paces in its own backyard.

The Colorado off road trails prove to be equally challenging as they are scenic, acting as the perfect proving grounds for the 33” Nitto Tire Ridge Grapplers that the 4Runner was built around. River crossings and waterfalls demand the additional clearance gained from the 3” Toytec Aluma Series Suspension System and make no match against the combination of the two. After a full day on the trail, we kick back at a hard-to-reach campsite nestled in the White River National Forest and put Rhino-Rack’s Batwing Awning to use.

While exploring the trails, we experience some of Colorado’s rich mining history and even have to pass over snow that’s still multiple feet deep despite being in the middle of summer! We have a blast finding out just how capable this Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Build really is and encounter many different types of terrain as we ultimately climb our way up to nearly 13,000 feet.

Tune in to our latest adventure if you’re looking for some inspiration for your next 4Runner build or for a new trail to hit!

Meanwhile in Mongolia people use prius to cross rivers twice deep and offroad. Awesome rig and I have the same one and love it.

Colorado and Utah just have the best most beautiful trails. Wanna go there one day. It looks so beautiful on camera, I can’t even imagine it in person. 4runner gang for life!

Excellent! God's country out there for sure.
I was out there in July running trails in my Tacoma. Black Bear pass was my favorite. Can't wait to do it again next season!

Matt at 3D Off-Road is the best. He's built my last two rigs, 2017 Tacoma and now my Titan-Swap 2011 Xterra.

I'm in Denver. I have a 4th gen 4Runner with the 4.7-liter V8 that I bought new in 2004. Never had any problems at all - but it only has 150, 000 miles. That's barely broken in for a 4Runner.

As someone who owns an off-road vehicle (4Runner) and a built muscle car, it’s really funny how most off-road enthusiasts really known little about cars in general, with exceptions of course. But essentially it comes down to “I upgraded those 3 things, that’s my epic build.” But third of it is just cosmetic, the other third is stupid lights that they never use, and only about one or two things are actually functional upgrades.

Being that i own a 4Runner TRD Off Road, it's nice to see a channel overlanding in one, instead of always Jeeps.
I have the Magnuson supercharger in mine and HIGHLY recommend it!

We love our 4Runner on 285 toyo R/T's they fit before lift but after lift it pulled them inwards so that's were rubbing started. We went with Hefty Fabworks rock sliders and getting bumpers and full skids from them here soon.

I think the Hefty Fabworks could be a great addition onto the build they are located in Colorado Springs. Should check out his 4Runner on 37's wow it's sweet.
