Erwin Rommel was a German army officer who rose to the rank of field marshal and earned fame at home and abroad for his leadership of Germany’s Afrika Korps in North Africa during World War II. History can be a viewpoint depending on where you stood. Many allied commanders respected their counterparts, they did not like them, but they were warriors in kind.
