'No Jewish Girls': Uzbekistan's Shrinking Jewish Community

Bukhara, a historic city in Uzbekistan located in the heart of Central Asia, is home around 200 Jews -- the remnants of a once-thriving community. As their population declines, Bukharan Jews are finding it increasingly difficult to find marriage partners.

It's a sad thing to see the loss of local Jewish communities around the world, many having been in existence for untold centuries.

As you can see they don't speak in Uzbek, then people wonder why native people in Uzbekistan don't like them. These people don't consider themselves as Uzbek but Jew.

My mother also mix of Uzbekistanian, Vietnamese and mostly Chinese too. I wonder did any Uzbekistan Jewish intermarry Chinese Samarkand or through silk road? Then it may reincrease bukharan Jewish population.

I live near a Bhukarian community in Queens. The food around is great. It stretches from Bukarian to Tibetan, kosher Georgian, and every kind of Latin and Asian imaginable. Indian and Pakistani. As long as you keep out of the Greek and Egyptian neighborhoods, it's cheap too. Bukarian is interesting. Dumplings with ingredients Asians wouldn't think to use, like pumpkin. Is it better than other cuisines around? No. If there's spice, most people gravitate toward it. Some people have a spice aversion, but if you caught the spice bug, you're probably eating Vietnamese, Latin, Indian or Korean. Korean can get pricey, come to think of it, as well as Georgian. And the Bhukarian and Georgian restaurants aren't open Friday night and Saturday. These people take religion seriously, unlike most Jews. If the Bhukarian restaurants are open and nearby, they're kind of fun. Why didn't other Asians fill dumplings with pumpkin?

Like all relgions Judaism is flawed. Perhaps reflect inwards why women do not want to join. Why would they, when they can be apart of the relgion and be more free.
