Why winter makes the coronavirus pandemic worse

This is the idea that viruses have a bigger effect during the cold winter months, than they do in the summer.

We’re not just talking about coronavirus - Other illnesses - like the flu, and even the common cold - seem to be far more widespread during the Winter.

So why do viruses have a bigger impact when it’s cold?

Dr Aldridge is leading the 'Virus Watch', run by University College London. Over 33,500 people are taking part in the study, across England and Wales. But they urgently need more people to take part - especially those from a minority ethnic background, so they can examine whether there is a relationship between infection risk, seasonality and ethnicity.

"So what you're saying is...." (you see what I did there?) we should all stay outdoors during winter. Maybe the UK could have a national lockout where people are not allowed to go home.

It’s best to avoid all social gatherings, weddings, birthday parties, etc. to help stop the spread, especially during the winter.

Yes, in Australia and New Zealand there was a huge drop in flu infections over the winter this year, thanks to social distancing, staying away from crowds, hygiene care, the elderly taking greater care of themselves, masks, etc, and, of course, a greater uptake of the flu vaccine. Simple ptotective measures.

There have been links made between vitamin D and reduced risk to covid-19

I wonder if all this bubbles and isolation will help to counteract the effect?

Being outside is not enough to get vitamin D... you need a balanced diet and vitamins to get able to absorb and maintain your vitamin d levels

Another reason I have read in a scientific review: the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract are slightly thiner in winter and let pass the virus more easily. We also are more tired in winter becasuse the body fight the harder weather and this fatigue can expose us more easily to illness. You can see the effect of those harder condition on people leaving in the north countries: they are much bigger and strong than people in the south.

Philippians 1:21, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Hebrews 13:14, " For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come." 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power;" Isaiah to Malachi in the O/T is about these end times. Revelation 18-22. May God bless and keep you always!

It is good to take about 2000 IU of Vitamin D per day. This goes a long way to protecting against respiratory infections, I have learned.

C4 why did you use an old fashioned TV housing around those clips?

Apart from that, informative and succinct. Thank you.

I may live in a tropical country, but tropical countries give more fruits than cold countries. It's safer in a tropical area than in a cold area during the pandemic. For example the continent of Africa is mostly tropical, but it's mostly hard to live in Africa due to some countries are landlocked and they have to rely on other coastal countries for trade. Europe is mostly a cold continent with cold countries as Germany, UK, France, Norway, Finland, and Sweden.
