Two years ago, we reported on a finding that was later disproved! What have we learned about gravitational waves since then?

IT'S OFFICIAL: Gravitational waves have been detected, Einstein was right
"After 100 years of searching, an international team of physicists has confirmed the existence of Einstein's gravitational waves, marking one of the biggest astrophysical discoveries of the past century. It's a huge deal, because it not only improves our understanding of how the Universe works, it also opens up a whole new way of studying it."

Big Bang, Inflation, Gravitational Waves: What It Means
"Etched into the most ancient radiation that pervades the entire universe and created - literally - at the dawn of time, gravitational waves have been directly observed, giving us a glimpse as to the nature of the inflationary period that is theorized to have caused the rapid growth of our universe just after the Big Bang."

Gravitational Waves Discovery Now Officially Dead
"The European Space Agency (ESA) announced the long-awaited results on January 30, a day after a summary of it had been unintentionally posted online by French members of the Planck satellite team and then widely circulated before it was taken down."

Discoveries that were wrong? The Italian team that said they detected particles from cern that were traveling faster than light when it was just a loose cable was a pretty big miss

They're gonna be so shocked when they find out we're in a computer simulation. If we do....

that knife seemed pretty extreme to pop a balloon

I remember that. The initial data from BICEP seemed *strong*, but upon further examination the evidence was *weak*... kinda like my biceps.

Have you seen the size of that knife @2:16 ????

Can you guys do a video about if there is a correlation between the climate of a region and the behavioral characteristics (i.e. informal social structure) of its locals.

If EVERYTHING changes at once it's like nothing changes. It's like adding 1 to two sides of an equation. This is what I don't understand about the balloon metaphor.

I've heard about an argument that gravitational waves don't exist and that they are another type of electromagnetic wave. Can you provide any more information about this?

2016 - An amazing year for science. Not so much for showbiz legends, progressives and people in Aleppo.

I remember watching when they went to Professor Andrei Linde's house to tell him about the Bicept2 results. What a let down it must have been 2 months later.

I have a theory, if gravitational waves expand space and time then if we as in earth comes across these wave then shouldn't we have a time desync with everything else that this gravitational wave didn't reach?

I think the only way to prove this is by sending a portable LIGO far away from the earth and see if there is actually a time desync.

What if these gravitational waves delayed photon particles from deep space and what if things are closer than they appear?
