What is the best and safest area to stay in Barcelona? Specifically, I wanted to know which neighborhood to stay in was best for first time visitors and what are the best hotels in Barcelona, Spain?

The wife and I have the InterContinental booked both before and after our cruise in June, but I may switch our 3-night post-cruise stay to the Monument Hotel! That one looks fabulous and the perfect way to spend a few nights after a week in the MSC Yacht Club.

Hi Antoinette, Hope you had a great Christmas. I just wanted to give you my review on the Monument Hotel. OMG it was one of the BEST hotels ever, the service was immaculate, the area was great, and found a couple of good restaurants for carry-out. My husband was having back pain so, we did not get to see a lot. The roof top of the hotel for dinner was nice. The gelato in Spain, France, and Italy was outstanding, Wish I could find it in the states..lol. Back to the room, we had the two room suite and that bathroom was amazing, the hallway had so much drama lol, my husband was impressed with the glass elevator. I liked that you had to sit down to check in, that was a nice touch. I would definitely stay there again, when I go back.Thas so much for the suggestion.
