Last week Hubnut decided to do a road test on a Phase 1 Mega Multitruck, which at the time I was disappointed with. Mainly because it was in a bad state. However, like any vehicle owner, the one that is yours becomes the apple of your eye. Even if for some people a sans permis truck just can't a "real" vehicle.

My argument is that the sans permis in France fills in a gap for a lot of people. This is a big country with lots of open space, so with a lack of decent public transport in lots of regions, a small quadricycle is a bit of a lifeline. In recent times they've been adopted by teenagers, probably because their parents option of getting from A to B when they were young was riding on a death trap sans permis 50cc CVT scooter.

Anyhow, this is just a friendly reply to Ian and Carly over at Hubnut and I hope that they and others will take it in the spirit it is intended... An honest and friendly point of view from an old fart!

I got an Aixam Mega from 2007 and find it kind of fun to drive. Sure, it's kind of loud, but not at all like hubnut. No idea how he managed to get that beeping noise. It's perfect to able to load lots of stuff. Here in Sweden, car saves on road tolls, no inspection fees and no vehicletax. Also doesn't use that much fuel. Also, enough with a moped drivers license which you could take in a weekend with additional reading.

As I mostly drive locally and on city roads, it's no biggie to be limited to a legal speed of 45km/h (even if it can push 60km/h if you would want to, but then it would have to be registered as a car).

So can't understand the negativity.

Are these sans permis in the UK? Can they be driven by a 14 year old. I coild see millions of Sans Permis cutting CO2. France has nearly 65 models of Sans Permis.

Never driven one but I've always liked Aixam. There's quite a few in Poland, particularly in rural areas where bus services are infrequent, footpaths are non-existent, dangerous to ride bikes due to idiot cars drivers etc. I've heard of older school kids driving themselves to school for those reasons. The current range of cars are styled very nicely indeed - somewhat rather "inspired" by the Fiat 500 and VW Up (IMHO!).

I watched the hubnut video and thought it was ironic have negative he was yet is quite positive about his Invacars. Yet this vehicle is a lot more practical.
I have a three cylinder Kubota and you need to pre-heat these motors for a while even more so in cold weather.
Also they are very noisy and they have no blowers so pickup can be a bit slow.
Plus I have a 2011 Huyundai and I could mention quite a few minor faults with it. Even one of the hinges on the glove box has bust. But it is 12 years old.

You can Nitrous oxide a Diesel auto, dont do it on a manual you'll burn out the clutch.
or for a cheaper alternative inject propane, not as much power increase but cheap and easy.
and dont do either for more than a few seconds as the engine will burn up with the extra heat.

Microcar is a better maker of quads, their long wheelbase MC1 or 2 beats Aixams.
Aixams and Microcar also come with petrol Lombardi 2cyl engines as well as
Kubota 2cyl dumptuck diesels.

Much different to the Hubnut video obe thing is the CVT transmission how they shoukd be simpke easy to repair not like the ones you geypt in the newer cars l wouldn't have one fortunately nobe have CVT a normal 5 speed manual in my Toyota Hilux ute and my wifes a 2021 Suzuki Beleno a torque converter automatic as for been a plastis bodied van that slurry you used as long as you have plenty of lego and asitone you should be able to repair your van one thing is plastic doesn't rust
