What is lacking is how you address idioms such as: “ Quand les poules aurons les dents” which when translated literally would be worthless for an American English speaker, because it corresponds to “When Hell freezes over”. Or even worse “Il a peté un câble”, meaning that he lost his mind, but literally means “he farted a cable”.
