On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we react to the news that Brock Faber has signed an 8 year extension with the Wild. We look at all of the achievements he reached in his rookie season. We look at how he can make this contract a bargain based on his current level of production. We also discuss recent Wild extensions such as Joel Eriksson Ek, Matt Boldy, Jonas Brodin and Jared Spurgeon that have been modeled in a similar way. We finish the show by looking at what this means for the Wild defense going forward and the money the Wild have allocated to their top defenders.

This simply had to be done. I hate 8 year extensions but at Faber’s age, this is a no brainer.

Sheesh a three episode day?!? My hero. I think I'll actually have to fire up the Spotify tomorrow at work to catch one.

I was so excited for this episode all day. Now I'm chilling by the lake after work and hoping for some of this weeklong double meteor shower at the same time to show up while I listen. Appreciate ya Seth.

I agreed with everything you said so much as usual. My one input I'll give is that after seeing Faber's number I think Kaprizov will probably get $12 M's. It may be a necessity but man I hope the cap rises quickly if most of our prospects work out. Of course it is nice having these nice contracts we already have. Don't mean to sound ungrateful but we still need a bit more punch (not fighting) to make our mark in my opinion.

Also yes, Bill is going to have to let somebody he cares about go because of all these mid term-tough to move contracts. Thats the choice he made. Gotta turn the team over to the future and random trades and offseason signings isn't going to stop time. Believe in them please lol.

We knew this was coming. Now let’s work on getting his statue ready for when he retires as a Cup winning Wild.

Any word on the trade protection? I knew he'd get less than Kirill, as he should. Nobody is getting more than Kirill annually. Plus, the highest paid Dman in the league is only making $3M more than Brock. Good signing, although I'm never a fan of max length contracts.

Fabers extension starts in 2025-26 not next year.
