Also a continental grip helps to control angle of the racquet. Try to contact the ball at halfway between the equator and south pole. Solid contact on the sweet spot of the paddle is essential..

Question (for any of you who can help)... I'm having trouble with getting my Third Shot Drop to have a low enough bounce, often leading to an opponent hitting a precise power shot, making a return commonly impossible. I've tried to incorporate backspin into it to shorten the bounce, but it's hard to get it to drop in the kitchen because it floats for so long. Any advice...?

To me it looked like those third drop shots had too much arc which cause the ball to bounce higher and would be very attack able. But, I totally get what your are trying to convey.
