June 18th, 2024 // Kansas Landspout Chase

Only six months late for this one! A fun chase in Kansas near Garden City that ended up all the way in the Oklahoma Panhandle after sunset. David Baxter was helping me with leading a Chinese film crew around and I was also leading my tour group, so we had a lot going on. Was a blast to get them on a tornado, even if it wasn't a typical one.

At the end of the video is a little look at the surprise funnel lurking in the rain.

Awesome videography as expected from Mike Olbinski. Your Haboob videos we watch over-and-over. When I was a kid, I noticed a bright orange dot in the distance. Peeked my Father's curiosity. We set-up camp, and made dinner. No one seemed aware in Arizona. The dot was growing. Becoming a murky brown color. Gusts stabbed us at over eighty mph. Tents and unsecured items were everywhere. Visibility was zero. We ended-up in a very remote, unfit for human occupancy motel. Amen, for sleeping bags.
