I sent my kids with home lunches. My kids liked their home lunches better than their school lunches. I lucked out on that.

Our boys are in 1st and 3rd grade and we love to have them help make their lunch. Learn what a balanced meal is. What’s a protein, carb and fat then about once a month on a Friday they get to do school lunch.

Its a life skill to cook. Its a life skill to be able to grow a plant too! Very few people know how to butcher an animal to eat it without dying!

My mom would pack my school lunch but I would still spend my own money at the cafeteria or gas station

My friend started packing her kids school lunches - the day after her son discovered a baked cockroach on his school pizza.

Kids hate strict rules around food. It leads to food issues and resentment later in life.

This where the psychologist take things to far and are just weird. I bought food from school everyday and now as an adult have no problem making my food and not hoping to just get it for free

It's not about the money, it's about sending a message 😅

What if he did chores for lunch money and got his food that way?

Couldn't/shouldn't that be taught at home? Maybe I missed something.

Dr john, i disagree with your view on school lunch.
Nothing wrong with school lunch. School lunch is free in many cities including LA and NYC. Lunch is free now in our district on Long Island. It was over $2/day before. That's $360/school year if u don’t qualify for free lunch which my son did until he graduated in 2020.
U make dinner at home so why cant that be used for teaching him about food?
Maybe buying lunch will let him see that sometimes school lunch is the only meal many kids get every day.

Grow your own, and he will feed himself for life

Dude, if your kid wants to eat school lunch and it’s not outrageously expensive shut the hell up. Let the kid eat at school.
