"Who does that?" Someone who hung out with Fripp and Belew for years.

Tony Levin is a bass Master. I saw him in 08 at a bar/venue playing with Tod Rundgren. He even played some stick! Great show.

I saw Peter Gabriel play in Austin last week. I've seen him five times, but I paid little attention to Tony Levin until this concert. I was amazed by his artistry.

Mr. Chapman Stick himself Tony Levin. Blew my mind admiring this bassline and thought to myself “who played bass on this omg” only to find tony fucking levin 😂 such a shockingly prolific career, tons of session work all over the place

Ian your bass tone on Down and Above's cover of "Digging in the Dirt" is unbelievable! Another amazing bass riff from a Peter Gabriel song.

Wherever I lay my hat is the most recognisable fretless bass I would've thought. Played by Pino Palladino.

Who doesn’t love Tony. Might also want to check out original King Crimson singer, and Bad Co. bassist Boz Burrell, who played fret less his whole career. No one in rock was doing that at the time. On occasion yes, but Boz made it his primary instrument.

Most iconic fretless bass line of all time... that a lot of people don't know is on a fretless.

Wherever I Lay My Head is the line you're thinking of.
