Any arm measurement is possible if your body fat is high enough.⁣

But if we're talking about a *lean* measurement (let's say below 15% body fat) then it seems a lot of people are quite delusional about what's realistically possible for a typical natural lifter.⁣

I recently came across a video from a very popular bodybuilding YouTuber titled "How To Grow 19 Inch Arms" and couldn't help but laugh seeing the hundreds of comments from his subscribers who are actually taking it seriously.⁣

The reality is that a true 19 inch lean arm is absolutely fucking massive.⁣

Even 18 inches is freaking ginormous. ⁣

If you're a relatively lean natty with around average structure (I keep stressing the word "lean" because anyone can sit at a higher body fat and have bigger measurements), then a true 17 inches would be very impressive and not something you'll see too often.⁣

Also keep in mind the word "true", since many people will fudge their measurements by not fully tightening the tape and/or measuring at an angle. That also doesn't count.⁣

In my experience it seems like around 16 inches give or take is where a lot of leaner naturals end up.⁣

Some people might scoff at that, but it's actually fairly big if we're talking about a proper measurement and will look quite impressive on most people.⁣

If you have a smaller structure then even 15 inches can look pretty good.⁣

At the end of the day measurements will vary and look different on each person depending on a variety of factors and so it's not something to get too hung up on.⁣

But one thing is for sure, and that's that there's roughly a 0% chance you're achieving 19 inch arms naturally unless you're carrying a ton of fat.⁣

This is where I'd usually ask something like "leave your arm measurement below in the comments", but just like asking people their body fat percentage, it seems that the answers given are rarely accurate. But go ahead if you want to anyway⁣ 😆👇🏻

So true. For reference I am 6'4, 300 lbs with 19 in arms at probably 25% body fat. You need serious size to have arms that big

19 inch arms as a lean lifter(10-14% bf) is probably the max you can achieve naturally. Even the greatest natural bodybuilders like Steve Reeves or Reg Park back in the day, they both had 18.25 and 18.5 inch arms respectively. And these guys had good genetics and have been training for about a decade, plus they were both 6 ft 1 so taller than the average dude. When you're taller, you can pack on more mass on your body. Plus it takes longer to fill up your body when you're a tall dude/girl.

I'm a lil over 6'4 myself with 17 inch arms after 4 years of training(219 pounds at 13% bf). I'm pretty sure I can get them to 18.5-18.75 in the next 2-3 years.

I'd like your take on Humistons extremely high rep method. It isn't the conventional method, but I'm having a hard time understanding why so many people bash it. A lot of physical labourers have gotten swole from working relatively light weight untill exhaustion. Some old school bodybuilders got big from doing huge amount of volume. So why exactly are we turning Humiston into a meme?

Arms stay lean even when you’re at high body fat.
There was this one giant dude when I first joined the gym.. his gut was large. But his arms where the size of my head. Decently defined that is. Point is kids... don’t be afraid to gain size because you want skinny boy abs.

If you're 5'7 or below 15 inch arms look big
If you're 5'8 to 5'11 16 inch arms look big
If you're 6 feet or more 17 inch arms look big

Remember, the average of all average guys who is 5'9 and 20% bodyfat has an upper arm measurment of 13 inches.

I have been training for 5 years and I have 17.5 inch arms cold at 6 feet, 184 lbs with a body fat of around 15-17%. I do believe I can reach 18 inches but I do have good arm genentics.

I'd like to do it at 20% body fat. But even that is pretty damn tough.

very much comes to your proportions as well. For example i have very long arms (wingspan 194cm at 180cm height) and my wrists are only 16.5cm thick. I have 40cm arms cold and pretty good overall shape 15% body fat at 82kg. My arms still doesn't look big unless in pump (close to 42cm) but take a guy with same body proportions but 175cm wingspan instead and 40cm will look huge on him. I'm often surprised when i see short arm guys in arm wrestling how their arms are thick af but their size is "just" 41 and the next guy is long lever thin guy and has 43cm bicep but looks like doesn't even lift. It's all relative...
