Why US Navy Submarines Fear This Russian Destroyer? #shorts

Why American submarines feared this Russian destroyer. To defend Kiev-class carriers and Kirov-class battlecruisers from submarines, which have in the past sunk major ships, the Soviets created the Udaloy-class destroyers. This ship arrived with some shocking abilities for an American submarine captain. It carried two Kamov Ka-27 "Helix" anti-submarine helicopters and weighed 6,700 tons. The two quadruple launchers on this vessel, which can carey the SS-N-14 Silex missile, are its most distinctive feature. This weapon outranged the torpedoes on NATO submarines, giving it a critical range of just over 34 miles. These ships could be screening a Kirov or Kiev, preventing an American submarine on the prowl from getting close enough to strike the valuable ship. Eight eight-round launchers with SA-N-9 "Gauntlet" missiles, a point-defense surface-to-air missile, two CADS-N-1 close-in defense systems with 30mm cannons, and eight SA-N-11 "Grison" missiles were also included in the list of additional weapons. Only eight of the twelve built by the Soviets are still in use, but they nevertheless provide Russia with a strong anti-submarine station.

Why would the US Navy be afraid of a coral reef?

Unfortunately for the Russians their entire surface fleet would be obliterated in port in any conflict with NATO. There’s a reason they spend all of their money on submarines.

Why would the soviets/russian bother to defend the Kiev Class. It can sink on its own. Doesn't need an enemy

So, basically, all you need to do is take out those two helicopters, and it becomes vulnerable to torpedoes again.

I have to wonder how many times one of those destroyers had a NATO sub right under them and never knew it.

I bet they're almost as good as the Moskva. 😂😜🤣👍

This is a very feared naval vessel because of the extreme risk it poses to submarines. I mean, look how large it is. When it’s at the bottom of the ocean, it could cause a submarine to crash into it!

There was the time that John Lemand, SECNAV had every Soviet boomer pinged by a Los Angeles class attack boat simultaneously.

Russia can’t even keep an oil burning aircraft carrier running

Oh, so the crews of US submarines told you that they fear this Russian vessel? .... It looks like it needs a fleet of tugboats to pull it around like the Admiral Kuznetsov 😂. It's Russian, if it doesn't explode from careless smoking it will disappear with claims it fell out of a window. I'm sure the US Navy isn't losing any sleep over it. Ask the Moskva.

The U.S. Navy doesn't fear anyone. Remember that.

Russia: "We have 8 destroyers."
USA: "EIGHT! Wow, that's so quaint."

Too bad the Russians couldn't maintain them.
But on the bright side, the Russians do know how to swim.

They didn't worry the Royal Navy. HMS Swiftsure got past them and went under the Kiev carrier to record its acoustic signature and photograph the hull and propellers.
And they did it by keeping 20 feet under its hull.

I read the title, laughed hysterically for about two minutes, then clicked on the video, to answer the question: No, US subs have never feared that hunk of shit.

Who would win: 1 of these destroyers or 1 Ukrainian tractor

This ship also has 5mm double glazed window launcher and a 35mm retractable frosted glass launcher. 😊

the biggest fear the sub has was if the ship sinks right above it

8 ships would be lucky to screen a single carrier beyond 34 miles. Lucky for them they only have 1 carrier to screen, and it spends nearly all of its time in port because it has a habit of lighting on fire if they try to go anywhere under their own power. Even if we take it at face value, which is laughable historically, it could BARELY do the job.

Nobody fears this. They understand what they cannot do while this is nearby, and they work around it to get their mission done regardless.

I came to the comment section to smell the stench of american exceptionalism. I wasn't disappointed
