I recently viewed a brief video of the US Army Field Band playing tribute to Queen Elizabeth II upon her death and it immediately made me think of this scene where Adams meets King George III. Though I am unsure of what was exactly spoken between the two, to think 216 years later the Coldstream Guards played the Star Spangled Banner in London after the September 11 attacks and then 21 years later we honored Queen Elizabeth II. I often wonder if both King George and John Adams ever dreamed of there being such close ties.

Adams.really.had to fall on his sword here in the.most ingratiating way possible. King George's anger deflates as Adams woos him with his calm, gentle demeanor.

This mini series doesn't get enough credit. It was exceptional. Who knew Thomas Jefferson not only wanted to sit on the iron throne but he actually invented the iron swivel chair.

Losing the Revolutionary War was the best thing that ever happened to Great Britain. Britain redirected its colonial energies to Malaya, India, Africa and elsewhere. As a result, English is the world language to a far greater extent than its predecessors, French and Latin. People who speak English consume British culture and learn British ways of thinking. Plus, the U.S. in time would become an all powerful ally.
