TODAY'S VIDEO:

The actor Martin Freeman was recently on a podcast where he declared that he had gone back to eating land animals because he is concerned about meat free alternatives being "very very processed". However, in a staggering display of hypocrisy and contradiction, he also spoke about his love for scotch eggs and pork pies! So in today's video, I take a look at the podcast episode and breakdown what Martin has to say, as well as discussing the media reaction to his announcement.

I love how he's basically been vegetarian for most of his life, and his argument to stop was pretty much "But bacon though..."

I feel Martin debunked his own argument the moment he mentioned pork pies.

The logic of these people who criticize processed vegan substitutes has always driven me nuts, even before my recent decision to become plant-based (thanks to your channel).
No one is arguing that the substitutes are the pinnacle of health food. The assumption that vegans live exclusively on these items is just silly— there are myriad natural options.
The meat substitutes are helpful when people want to create a familiar or nostalgic dish.

It's amazing how weak minded we can be while trying to belong in society or groups.
Veganism is about being just and respectful towards other sentient and emotional beings, not about being "special" nor "cool"!

A bunch of people laughing about how much they enjoy eating carcasses feels like a dialogue I'd imagine for ogres or orcs

"Better to be a happy idiot than someone who knows the truth" - Michael Scott

I was physically/mentally abused by my "father" and "step-mother" and neglected/mentally abused by my "mother."

I had to deal with bullies at school and gang violence in the streets.
(My mom died when I was 17. I hope my dad lives a long, miserable life.)

Life was not easy, then I joined the Marine Corps after high school and did two back to back combat tours. I watched my friend get shot in the head, got traumatic brain injuries(too many explosions), fucked my back up, and (more)PTSD.

As you could guess, my mental health was not good.

I'm glad to say that according to my therapist and many years of therapy, I've broken the chain of abuse, and I'm doing a great job as a parent. If not for my wife and kids, I'd be dead.

I've been vegan since 2018. I've seen, caused, and been through enough pain and suffering. Sure, I also loved meat. But as someone who's been a victim most of his life, I'd rather not victimize anyone.

If my broken heathen ass can do it, you can too! Lol 🌱💪🏽🖖🏽

I'm at the stage where they all just sound stupid.

The real title should have been “Man admits he never had any morals or ethics, and confirms it to be true by continuing to pay for needless animal abuse.”

Went vegan 6 years ago, got my own vegan restaurant and will never go back to exploiting animals. Some of us stick to our morels unlike Martin freeman

Say "But it's so tasty, lol!" while watching an animal desperately trying to escape from the hands of a slaughterhouse worker. If you're unmoved, you're a sociopath.

It’s difficult to watch them and to not throw up. And baffling how those people can laugh in an evil way at “jokes” that involve cruelty to animals. Not to mention how senseless they are.

He was a long term "Pescetarian"- so his decision is based on egocentric behaviour not on empathy for sentient living beings.

Lentils, beans, chickpeas are not processed at all. Much easier to cook than meat. Gosh… 🤦‍♀️

I went from meat eater to vegan overnight during lockdown after watching one of Ed’s videos! I was horrified to realise how long it had taken me to learn the truth of what meat actually is. I’ve now been vegan 4 years this July! Vegan for life! 🌱😊

Ed - so refreshing to see you getting upset. You watch those college interviews or other, sort of dispassionate presentations designed to show people the illogic of their arguments, and you're always so calm despite what I'm sure you're feeling. Hang in there -- keep shining a light on the hypocrisy.
