Walking through peoples campsite, this happens a lot at so called "resorts"!
Not picking up after your dog. Just two of my pet peeves on camping not just boondocking. Thanks Caroline!!

We are volunteer camp hosts in Oregon State Parks. Surprisingly we run into that too. People pooping at their site when the bathroom is so close. Disgusting behavior!! My jerky thing to add is cigarette butts everywhere!!

Well said! Manners and respect for others is not a given these days and it’s getting worst.
It’s very depressing and sad to say the least to watch what is happening in this country.
Thank you for having the courage to address this issue in you channel.

People who go camping and bring every electronic device they own and set them up. Blasting music, loud partying, etc. Just stay home if you don't want peace and quiet!!!

Another jerky thing is people who pull into a campsite late at night and then make lots of noise while they are hollering directions to each other and setting up camp. I get that maybe they had some kind of trouble that caused them to arrive late, but they could at least have the courtesy to try to be quiet, especially if they pull in close to other campers, who have their lights out and are obviously in bed.

I don't understand the lack of personal space. When my daughter was younger, people (usually men) would stand very close to her in lines. I would have to insert myself in between her and the person behind her all the time. When she was a teenager I taught her to step back on the person's foot "accidentally". She had long hair too so I taught her to whip her hair around and then say "I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were so close to me" with a nice smile. Just give people their space. It's not hard.

Last year I went tent camping. I was at least half a mile from other campers. Around midnight a gaggle of drunks set up camp about a city block from me. They started letting off fireworks aimed at my camp site. Had a ton of tiny holes burned on my tent. I was alone, so I packed up and left. I don't understand the behavior of the few who ruin camping for the rest of us. Happy travels and stay safe Carolyn. 🤗

A real jerky thing is when a nearby camper decides that everyone should like their music and they blast it through their super boom box. Music is ok but not so loud you can hear it half a mile away. I guess some think others will be impressed with their favorite songs. This is not true people! 🤔

I'll feel safer to NOT have anyone close by. Especially if I was there first, and if I wasn't there first, I wouldn't stay as you stated. Another thing is loud music. I love my music....MY MUSIC. Even if they're camped where I can't see them, I can sometimes still hear them and that's just rude. I've camped all of my life and had a special secluded place where we had privacy and the only noise was us. It was so beautiful, right on the river with clear water and a gorgeous cliff on the other side. The entire area got washed away one year in a flood. I still miss it! We went several times a year and when we weren't there, we were talking about being there. We dug a deep hole and had this make-shift 3-part seat that we could do our business in and then we would haul buckets of sand and rock to cover the business hole. We were pretty proud of that seat!

My pet peeve is with what I assume are jerky LOCALS. They come in to a dispersed campsite with their rv/trailer set it up on let’s say a Monday and don’t come back until Friday evening and spend the weekend in what they call their rightful campsite that has been occupied by their family for generations and then leave the occupied site for the week. This goes on all summer. In the meantime I’m trying to find a site to camp and all the dispersed sites are “occupied” in this manner. So frustrating and if you talk to the local land management agency, they just nod their head to placate you and do nothing. Grrr….!!!

I was a Girl Scout and they always had us take our trash out. We were to leave the camp as we found it or even better if some jerk had left their trash. IF someone is out by themselves they are there for a reason. They want their privacy for whatever reason so I would never park near them. I hope when I do "hit the road" that I will be a good boon docker! Thanks Carolyn for reminding us all about the kindness we should show each other.

The "jerk" rvers are every where! Blue Water Casino in Parker Az has had enough.. closed their dry camping area and you can only stay in the Casino lot until midnight! Even McDonalds blocked off their large parking lot behind the restaurant... sad! People are disgusting.... ruin everything for everybody else!

We were boondocking right outside Badland Natl PK. SD. Late afternoon a couple pulled up in a mini van and backed in right up next to our camper hitch (we had our truck parked by the side of our camper) We were parked in a spot that had only room for one camper. We had to go talk to them and tell them we were leaving at 5 am. and had to hook up the camper to the truck. They were mad about it but did leave. We felt bad asking them to leave but what could we have done? there was plenty of empty camping spots for them to pull into. The people camping closes to us came over and talked to us, they witnessed the whole thing, we talked along time, mainly about how dorky people can be.

Ok but as a city dweller people do this jerky stuff right in the city too! I don't know wtf is WRONG with people these days and I have no filter between brain and mouth so my adult daughter finds going anywhere with me either hilarious or embarrassing lol! I swear common sense and common courtesy are things of the past. Should be called RARE sense or RARE courtesy unfortunately. Thank you as always for sharing Caroline. I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend.

Absolutely right! No arguments from me. I'd add broken glass & nails from construction wood scraps. Brian (Adventure Van Man) runs a bid powerful magnet all round campsites and protects his feet, his tires, & future visitors.
